Marketing Mix for SSG

In this post I will talk about Sports Supply Group's marketing mix! SSG is made up of the following approaches to pricing, distribution, and customer service. For pricing, compared to competitors such as Sportime, SSG provides propietary brands at great prices that are less expensive than our competitors. For distribution, SSG distributes directly out of its worksite located in Farmers Branch, Tx. Lastly in customer service, SSG prides themselves in providing great customer service and loyalty to the customer.

Critical Issues

Every company has it's strengths that keep the company running smooth and puts them ahead of their competitors. However, also every company has critical issues that they need to be aware of! For Sports Supply Group it is the economy that is affecting them. SSG bases most of their profit from schools and with the economy the way it is many schools do not have the funds to buy a large amount of athletic products. This could be harmful to the company but with the right approaches can be overcome.

Class is almost finished!

Hello everyone! As the last week before finals has begun, I am pleased to be finished with all of my homework! I have no finished the marketing plan as well the marketing presentation. I am very proud of myself with the effort I put in to these two projects. I think that the marketing plan has increased my confidence and really helped show myself the tasks I can take on. I am very pleased with the assignment Dr. Gray has come up with! Thank you Dr. Gray! Blog on!!!

Current Event

Hello everyone! In class I did my current event over Mark Zuckerburg who is a pioneer and entrepreneuer in the social media world. He is a 24 year old genius who came up with the idea of Facebook. That's right, and he is only 24. He was offered 1 billion by Yahoo to sell the company and in fact he turned it down. Unbelievable! 1 billion dollars and he turned it down. In the end however it appeared to be the smart decision as he sold just 1.4% of the company to Microsoft for 240 million dollars. If anybody is an entrepreneuer it's him! Blog on!!!

Thanksgiving

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I sure did. Not only did I enjoy the food but I also got to meet with my Dad and a few others of his employees during the break and they helped me a ton with the final part of my marketing plan. They offered valuable information that I needed that gave me the ability to create graphs for the last part. I met with the head of advertising for their company who gave me a brief run through of what his job consisted of and I founded that very interesting. I'm glad I had a chance to go home to get the opportunity to meet with all of them! Blog on!!!

Strengths

In doing my marketing plan on Sports Supply Group I found many advantages that SSG has when doing business. First of all SSG is about 5 times larger than their nearest competitors which are Sportime, Gopher, as well as Flaghouse in which all those companies are strictly catalouge sellers. This is another advantage that SSG has on it's competition in the fact that we have 250 different reps around the country that meet face to face with our customers. SSG prides themselves in providing excellent and loyal customer service and that is a major key that helped put them ahead of the competition.
